Network Access Control

What is Network Access Control (NAC)?

Network Access Control (NAC) is a computer/networking technology solution that is used to define and implement a set of policies that are used to secure a computer network. Network Access Control aims to do exactly what the name implies; control access to a network with policies, including pre-admission endpoint security policy checks and post-admission controls over where users and devices can go on a network and what they can do.

Do you need NAC?

Your network is vulnerable if you do not have a NAC solution, and you meet any of the following criteria:

  • You allow privately owned devices, such as Laptops on the premises
  • You allow privately owned devices to connect to the network
  • You used Open Wireless Networks
  • You have patched in network ports in publicly accessible locations
